Funded Projects

Funded Projects Database

The Canada Media Fund wants to keep applicants informed of funding decisions and results throughout the year. The database below contains projects that have been announced during the current fiscal year and all funded projects from prior years. New results will be added as they are published.
There are two types of announcements: Funding Decisions and Funding Results.

For information on funding results prior to 2010, please refer to the archives.

Funding Decisions

Funding Decisions indicate the selection of projects which have qualified for the CMF support but have yet to finalize all contracts. Only programs using a selective, competitive process to allocate funding are subject to a funding decision. These selective programs are: Experimental Stream, Aboriginal, English POV, Francophone Minority, and Diverse Languages.

A Funding Decision is posted on our website when decisions become available. Please note that there is one decision per application closing date. The decisions and funding commitments posted on the website are preliminary, as all requests must undergo a contracting process. Funding is not final until contracts are signed.

Funding Results

Funding results indicate approved and contracted applications for all convergent and experimental stream programs. The funding results are published on a quarterly basis.

Evaluation Jury

We rely on industry experts to contribute to the evaluation of leading-edge Canadian interactive productions.

Jury Members

Information in the funded projects database is correct as of the date of posting. The online database is updated at different times throughout the year, but not currently updated on a regular basis to reflect changes that may occur after posting, including changes in the applicant name or ownership of the project. If a project is subsequently withdrawn or refused funding, it will still appear on this page for informational purposes.

Synopsis

Season 3 begins with Rita laying Rodney to rest as she anticipates a meeting with Thomas, a restaurant owner she met online in Season 2. This new knight in shining armour never stops giving her advice and their romantic encounter once again ends badly. On the other hand, the experience does motivate Rita to commit herself to her business. She realizes that to ensure the success of her B&B, she must finally put Saint-Prospère on the map, which leads to the hasty launch of a project to restore a miraculous water source and to organize an antique car exhibition with Ferraille. And as always, Rita cannot resist getting involved in the lives of the people around her. She stops Yolande from making a mistake that would lead to a breakup with Edmour. She convinces Ferraille not to sell his Bricklin. She forces Gilberte to confront her husband. She sticks her nose into Zoêl's exhibition, who’s stressed out by her parents’ visit. And she continues to confront Lomer at every turn, saying he still resents her and keeps putting obstacles in her path. For his part, Lomer finally becomes aware of the stress that’s eating away at him and resigns as mayor. But who will replace him?

Synopsis

Things get complicated for the Charuest-Franks, a middle-class Quebec family, when they try to live without plastic. Whether it’s organizing a party for the kids, buying school supplies, going on vacation, or having friends over for dinner, the most routine tasks can become epic in scope. Plastic is everywhere, in every aspect of our lives, in our homes, clothes, tools, gadgets…you name it. We only recently realized that even our oceans contain scary concentrations of the stuff. This material, long admired for its practical characteristics, has now become a poison to the planet and everyone living on it. Worried by the growing threat, Evelyne and her partner, Glenn, decide to stop using plastic and radically change their consumption habits, while at the same time changing their lifestyle. But where do you begin? Plastic is found in every room, drawer, closet, and piece of furniture in their Longueuil, Quebec apartment. Not to mention the bedrooms of their playful five-year-old Léo and mischievous three-year-old Nina. The very idea of ransacking their rooms and removing all the plastic is a frightening prospect for the parents, concerned as they are about how the kids might react. But then no one said it would be easy. From surprises and headaches at the beginning, through discouragement, resignation, and the many ups and downs, to finally reaching an intelligent compromise…the great Charuest-Franks plastic purge offers plenty of food for thought.

Synopsis

Edgar is a criminal investigation series that stands out for its balanced concept mix somewhere between a modern Columbo and the wacky world of The Big Lebowski, where each character is a bit on the outrageous side and larger than life. The story is set in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where the series is shot. It includes eight complete investigations per season, each one playing out over a one-hour episode. Like in Columbo, viewers witness the murder and know who the murderer is. What they don’t know is how Detective Edgar will solve the crime and gather the evidence necessary to nail the culprit. Since viewers know the outcome of the investigations, their interest is sustained by the remarkably original methods Edgar uses to solve each case.

Synopsis

The concept of the Flip l’algorithme youth series is based on what really happens when you get lost in the deep abyss of the YouTube universe, where the algorithm continually creates surprising links from one segment to another. Each episode is woven together from short and assorted segments (like reports, interviews, columns, or sketches) with a logical sequence of keywords or hashtags as the common thread. At the beginning of each episode, it’s impossible to know how it will actually end. Each one presents a different adventure at the frenzied pace of an algorithm on steroids. In Season 2, AlgoFlip (or the Flip algorithm) takes even more control over how the episodes unfold. AlgoFlip is a new artificial intelligence virtual character created for Season 2, inspired by Alexa (Amazon) and Siri (Apple). In addition to its Franco-Ontarian voice, AlgoFlip is also in its mid-teens.

Synopsis

The Trajectoires documentary series is based on the careers of former NHL hockey greats. The basic principle of the series is to let the subjects (the star players) tell their stories from their own point of view. We experience the ups and downs of their lives and careers with them. The series often makes do without the statistics and the facts in order to better focus on the human side of the narrative. Trajectoires delivers a truly personal and in-depth portrait of individuals who have something in common with their audience...their life story about a passion we all share.
