Funded Projects

Funded Projects Database

The Canada Media Fund wants to keep applicants informed of funding decisions and results throughout the year. The database below contains projects that have been announced during the current fiscal year and all funded projects from prior years. New results will be added as they are published.
There are two types of announcements: Funding Decisions and Funding Results.

For information on funding results prior to 2010, please refer to the archives.

Funding Decisions

Funding Decisions indicate the selection of projects which have qualified for the CMF support but have yet to finalize all contracts. Only programs using a selective, competitive process to allocate funding are subject to a funding decision. These selective programs are: Experimental Stream, Aboriginal, English POV, Francophone Minority, and Diverse Languages.

A Funding Decision is posted on our website when decisions become available. Please note that there is one decision per application closing date. The decisions and funding commitments posted on the website are preliminary, as all requests must undergo a contracting process. Funding is not final until contracts are signed.

Funding Results

Funding results indicate approved and contracted applications for all convergent and experimental stream programs. The funding results are published on a quarterly basis.

Evaluation Jury

We rely on industry experts to contribute to the evaluation of leading-edge Canadian interactive productions.

Jury Members

Information in the funded projects database is correct as of the date of posting. The online database is updated at different times throughout the year, but not currently updated on a regular basis to reflect changes that may occur after posting, including changes in the applicant name or ownership of the project. If a project is subsequently withdrawn or refused funding, it will still appear on this page for informational purposes.

Synopsis

3Scape is a revolutionary project that entertains and engages viewers at an emotional and psychological level. The 22-minute pilot was created using 3D immersive video, 4K, High Frame Rate, special coloration and proprietary production techniques. As well as providing meaningful stories to seniors or the disabled, the expected side benefits of the product include a reduction in mood disorders (i.e. depression and anxiety), improvement in overall sense of well-being, and the creation of social interactions, which leads to a better quality of life for the elderly. 3Scape4 will create four new 3D immersive and Cinematic VR videos that will reflect Canadian and universal stories, culture and themes. The segments story titles are: THE BOX - a woman recounts her life through memories unpacked from a box. DANCE HALL - an old community hall relives its life through the dances that stepped its floors. THE PATH - a forest path is the metaphor for life. ANIMAL BABIES - new life coming to the world.

Synopsis

ALPHA & OMÉGA is a collaborative transmedia experience that blurs the line between fiction and reality, while revisiting the notions of supply and demand in the cultural sphere. First, the project will take the form of an 8-episode interactive web series about the vagaries of managing a theatre and putting up a play, as experienced by the ALPHA theatre company. In an effort to stem the loss in both revenues and audience for the theatre, its board of directors requests that the team put up a new play with purely commercial intents, the goal being to reach the largest audience possible. How? By submitting each and every decision made during the creation of the play to focus groups – made up of web users in the real world. Said users will thus be able to give their opinion on the title of the play, the costumes, the casting, etc. They will have the opportunity to be directly involved in the various artistic elements of the play, by providing lines, visuals for the sets and even auditioning for minor parts. By subtly slipping between fiction and reality, web users will have had an influence on the creation of the play (titled OMÉGA), which will then be shown at the Nouveau théâtre expérimental in 2017. What’s more, even that play will be interactive. Whether watching it at the theatre or from home (through a live webcast platform), the audience will once again be able to intervene as the play unfolds and make some changes based on their wishes and preferences. Thus, the audience becomes a highly influent part of both the creation and performance of a collaborative theatre project – certainly a first.
