CMF launches COVID-19 online information hub

More than 150 programs identified

Toronto, April 10, 2020 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today launched an online information hub to help Canadian workers and companies in our screen-based industries navigate the many programs and resources available to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although necessary to protect our communities, social distancing and shutdowns can be particularly difficult for self-employed creative workers, staff of production companies, and many others who are the heart and soul of Canada’s creative sector. Information on financial support offered through more than 150 programs, as well as other essential resources can now be found at covid.cmf-fmc.ca. The CMF will continue to update this page as we know more.

“These are unprecedented times, which require an equally unprecedented response by all sectors of our society,” said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, CMF. “All levels of government are responding with programs that offer much-needed relief to keep our economy afloat. The information on these programs as they relate to our industry can, at times, seem daunting. We hope that this online resource will help workers and businesses in our industry access relief funding quickly, as they set up for recovery once the pandemic subsides.”

Updated frequently, our fully bilingual information hub covid.cmf-fmc.ca includes:

  1. A directory of financial and fiscal assistance programs available to workers and businesses in the screen-based industries at the federal, provincial/territorial, and municipal levels;
  2. All information on the Canada Media Fund’s COVID-19 action plan and support measures;
  3. A curated newsfeed to keep stakeholders informed of the pandemic’s impact on our industries and consumers, including the results of surveys conducted by the COVID-19 Production Industry Taskforce.
