Canada and Ireland announce reopening of development incentive for audiovisual projects

November 09, 2017

Vancouver / Dublin, November 9, 2017 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) announced today the reopening of their funding incentive for the development of audiovisual projects. The announcement took place at an event during MediaCon in Vancouver, in the presence of Canadian producers and an Irish delegation led by Jim Kelly, Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to Canada.

Program guidelines, application documents and deadlines for submissions can be found here. The deadline to apply is January 11, 2018.

Both organisations intend to partner for three years to fund codevelopment projects between producers in Canada and Ireland. The total amount of funding available through the Incentive for this year will be CAD $200,000. The total maximum contribution for each project funded through the Incentive will be CAD $50,000.

The incentive seeks to fund television projects and digital media extensions of such television projects, which fulfill both the guidelines of the CMF and the objectives and themes of BAI’s Sound and Vision Scheme. Projects will be evaluated and chosen by a selection committee composed of representatives from both funding organizations.

For the first iteration of the program in 2016-2017, the CMF and BAI provided CAD $170,000 to finance the codevelopment of four projects.

Producers interested in finding an international partner as part of this development incentive are invited to post a profile of their company on the CMF’s website by clicking here. Profiles will be accessible to all, including potential partners from other countries.
