CMF applauds permanent federal funding for the Indigenous Screen Office

Toronto, March 14, 2024 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) applauds today’s announcement by Minister of Canadian Heritage Pascale St-Onge of permanent annual funding for the Indigenous Screen Office (ISO). This investment will bolster the ISO’s pivotal role in championing Indigenous voices and content and its ongoing mission to support Indigenous narrative sovereignty.

“The existence of a dedicated, government-funded, and self-determined Indigenous funding body is vital for our screen sector. This permanent funding further cements the ISO’s rightful place as a sister agency of the CMF, Telefilm Canada, and the National Film Board,” says Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, CMF. “The CMF has forged a solid working relationship with the ISO since its launch in 2017. We are proud to have supported their development since 2015, and stand alongside them as they continue to fulfill their distinct and important mandate.”
