GMP is a Nova Scotia based, boutique production company focusing on independent film and digital and projects. Agnostic in our format, we strive to make impactful stories that resonate with audiences.
GMP has four Canadian Screen Award nominations, won a Canadian Comedy Award and TIFF’s Pitch This!, received a Sundance Documentary Fund and created over 30 projects, from corporate videos to feature films. GMP has produced award-winning scripted content including shorts such as ‘Old St. Nick’ (TIFF’s Best of Shorts), ‘Ingrid and the Black Hole’ (2016 Cannes FF Not Short on Talent), ‘Boyclops’ (TIFF), ‘There’s a Flower in My Pedal’ (TIFF Honourable Mention), and ‘How to Be Alone’ (eight million views on YouTube), along with two seasons of the award winning digital series, ‘Everyone's Famous’ with CBC (HollyWeb Award). Documentaries include the feature ‘Cubers’, the mid-lengths, ‘The June Bug Symphony’ (Hot Docs), and ‘30 Takes’ and two episodes for CBC’s Land and Sea (Nova Scotia Folk Art, Farm Workers).
In 2020, GMP released Darrell Varga’s feature documentary ‘Bread in the Bones’ which won best Atlantic Documentary at AIFF and Best Director at the Ambrosia Film Festival in Russia. This year GMP will release the feature documentary ‘Elizabeth Bishop and the Art of Losing’ by John Scott. GMP is developing the dramatic series, ‘Arctic Passage’ with support from the CMF and Screen Scotland and the feature films, ‘Seventh Man’ and ‘Shred’ (part of Whistler’s Feature Film Lab, AFF’s Script Development Program, the Los Cabos Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund, PEI Screenwriter’s Bootcamp and the Trans Atlantic Partners Co-Production Program).
A past Banff CTV Fellow, TIFF Talent Lab and Producer’s Lab participant, GMP president, Walter Forsyth, sat on the Board of Hot Docs for six years and programs at the Lunenburg Doc Fest and the Hellifax Horror Fest.
A past participant in WIFT-AT New Waves Programme (2018), Britney Canzi is an emerging Latinx producer and actor. In 2019 she produced/acted in the award-winning short film ‘Presents’ (Gold for best Comedy - Royal Wolf) and wrote and acted in the horror short ‘Nuisance’ (FIN). She sits on the board of AFCOOP and WIFT- Atlantic.
