International incentives

The CMF is part of Canada’s strong funding ecosystem that fosters audiovisual content creation and encourages international coproduction.

Together, Canada’s coproduction treaties and the CMF’s financing provide opportunities for Canadian producers and their international counterparts to share resources and talent to tap into new markets. As consumers have growing access to content from all corners of the world, producers can benefit greatly from working together on the international front.

Current Incentives

The international coproduction and codevelopment incentives support innovative solutions to encourage the coproduction and codevelopment of content.

Below is a list of agreements for this fiscal year signed to date, with new international partnerships being announced throughout the year.

Archipelago Productions is a full-service entertainment production company based out of Toronto, Canada, with 15+ full-time employees between our production and post-production offices. We are a team of visual storytellers, technicians and diverse creatives, and were voted “Best Videography Services” in the Toronto Star Readers’ Choice awards (2019 & 2021).

In 2019, we produced Devout + Out, a three-part series for the CBC about openly LGBTQ+ individuals who have chosen to become or remain leaders in the church. Our short film, Camp Tipsy, directed by Jana Stackhouse, is about a 14-year-old girl who is struggling with alcoholism. The short won 5 awards at the 2022 Hollywood North Film Awards, including Best Short Film, and is the official selection of many festivals across the country. Jana also directed Note to Self, a comedy web series for the CBC starring Rakhee Morzaria. Our upcoming limited series, Content Farm, is a partnership between Canada Council for the Arts and the CBC, and is set to premiere later this year. Also set to premiere this year is our wildly funny comedy web series, My Special Guest, starring Juno Rinaldi and Jenny Young, alongside special guests Dani Kind and Jann Arden.

We are driven by an unwavering passion for cinema and series. Together, we are inspired to create a lasting and positive mark in those mediums. We are genre agnostic, and are drawn to story and meaningful impact over format. Archipelago takes a creator driven approach to all of our entertainment projects, be they documentary, narrative or unscripted. We strive to provide the ideal working environment that allows our creatives to flourish and ensure the best version of their vision is realized on screen.
