Sector Development Support

After reviewing the current Guidelines, first time applicants to Sector Development are encouraged to set up an initial meeting by emailing [email protected] to discuss the eligibility of their proposed activities.

The CMF’s Sector Development Support is project-based funding to support industry initiatives which demonstrate the potential to positively impact Canada’s audiovisual ecosystem by addressing industry gaps in distinct and identified areas, including Canada’s regions and Indigenous and Equity-Seeking Communities. Successful projects should lead to tangible benefits for multiple members of the screen-based sector and cannot primarily benefit any one creator or company.

There are two funding streams for Sector Development: Capacity Building and Market Access.

  • CAPACITY BUILDING seeks to support projects and initiatives that meaningfully advance opportunities for participants and to build skills and capacity to advance their individual or company growth and participation in the industry.
  • MARKET ACCESS seeks to support projects and initiatives that meaningfully advance opportunities for participants and their projects to realize commercial opportunities and/or finance projects.

Questions about the application process or the Sector Development Support program can be sent to the Growth and Inclusion team at [email protected].

For applicants who require support or accommodations in the application process, please visit our Accessibility Support page or email [email protected].
