17 projects to receive nearly $2.5M through first round of Changing Narratives Fund
Toronto, March 27, 2025 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced that 17 projects will receive a total of $2,456,246 for the first round of the Changing Narratives Fund.
The 17 organizations selected for funding are all led by members of Equity-Deserving Communities. Seven are based in Quebec, four in Ontario, three in British Columbia, two in Alberta, and one in Nunavut. 10 projects will be led in English, and seven in French.

Announced last October, the Changing Narratives Fund is a $10M, three-year initiative from the Government of Canada that supports diverse communities and organizations in telling their stories and participating in the media and cultural industries by funding professional development activities that will increase the number of qualified and diverse creators in those sectors.
The CMF administers a $4,456,246 portion of the total $10M available through the Fund. A $1M disbursement will be made available in the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
