29 CMF-funded productions receive a total 54 Canadian Screen Awards

CMF and Canada on Screen celebrate nominees and winners at inaugural award week

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) congratulates the winners of the first edition of the Canadian Screen Awards, which have been recognized for their excellence by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and industry professionals at a series of events which culminated with last night’s gala.

“The CMF applauds the work of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television that recognizes the convergent landscape of Canadian media,” says Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, Canada Media Fund. “The CMF is delighted to be part of the inaugural edition of the Canadian Screen Awards celebrating Canadian talent and innovation in the fields of television, film and digital media. Canadians can take pride in the outstanding work being done right here at home.”

The Academy nominated 110 CMF-funded projects that received a combined total of 381 nominations. Of those, 29 productions won a total of 54 Canadian Screen Awards, including top winners such as Flashpoint, Call Me Fitz, John A: Birth of a Country, and Less Than Kind.
