Canada and Wallonia renew incentive for interactive digital media

Toronto/Mons, September 8, 2016 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Wallimage, Wallonia, Belgium’s audiovisual content development fund, announced today a renewal of their incentive to encourage the coproduction of eligible interactive digital media projects between producers in Canada and Wallonia. This is the third consecutive year both agencies have collaborated on this incentive.

The Canada – Wallonia Digital Media Incentive for Multiplatform Projects’ budget is set at CAD $600,000, with each partner investing half of the total amount. Projects must be digital interactive content, explore a transmedia approach to content production, be innovative or experimental, and developed on appropriate platforms.

Projects will be evaluated according to a set of criteria by a selection committee composed of CMF and Wallimage representatives with the collaboration of an international expert in transmedia.

Since the inception of this incentive with Wallimage in 2014, four projects received a combined total of CAD$1M. For more information on projects financed by the CMF, please access the Funded Projects Database.

The incentive is now open for applications and the closing date is December 13, 2016.
