Canada-Wallonia project receives $0.5M in funding

Toronto (Canada) / Mons (Belgium), April 7, 2017 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Wallimage, Wallonia, Belgium’s audiovisual content development fund, announced today an investment of CAD $500,000 to support the coproduction of Les Coulisses de l'Animation (Behind the Scenes of Animation) as part of the Canada – Wallonia Digital Media Incentive for Multiplatform Projects.

Di-o-Matic (Québec) will team up with Belvision (Wallonia) to produce Les Coulisses de l'Animation. This is a cross-platform iOS and Android application, comparable to an interactive and non-linear encyclopedia. The application will allow users to discover the fascinating behind the scenes world and the production stages of Franco-Belgian animated films that lulled the childhoods of generations of French speakers around the world. Projects were evaluated according to a set of criteria by a selection committee composed of CMF and Wallimage representatives with the collaboration of Voyelle Acker, an international expert in transmedia.

Since the inception of this incentive with Wallimage in 2014, five projects received a combined total of CAD$1.5M in investments. For more information on projects financed by the CMF, please access the Funded Projects Database here.
