CMF welcomes advisory panel on audiovisual sector modernization 

Gatineau, April 21, 2025 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) welcomes the announcement by the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture, of an advisory panel to guide the modernization of Canada’s audiovisual sector. "This is a defining moment for our industry—an opportunity to build a future‑ready Canadian audiovisual ecosystem that centres Canadian and Indigenous stories, supports the creators who tell them, strengthens our culture at home, and connects our productions with audiences around the world,” said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO of the CMF. “The CMF shares the Minister’s vision for modernization, and the creation of this advisory panel represents a meaningful step toward that goal.”

Following Minister Miller’s leadership and alongside other federal-level agencies serving the screen industry, the CMF is committed to playing a constructive and collaborative role in the modernization of our sector, ultimately benefiting Canadian and Indigenous stories.
