CMF invests $4.8M in the prototyping of 22 projects
Toronto, August 12, 2026 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced the 22 projects selected for funding through the spring 2026 round of our Prototyping Program. The projects will receive a total of $4,803,052.
Eight of the recipients are based in Quebec, seven in Ontario, five in Alberta, and two in British Columbia. 20 of the projects are games, one is an immersive/interactive experience, and one is a software application.
Through a selective process, the Prototyping Program allocates funding to projects at the early stages of building a product to demonstrate its intended functionalities and design. Specifically, this phase is for experimenting, testing, and validating different concepts and hypotheses to arrive at a first functional prototype.
The fall 2026 funding round for this program will open on October 27.
