17 productions receive $7.7 million under Francophone Minority Program

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced that 17 convergent projects have been awarded $7.7 million in funding as part of the first round of financing under the Francophone Minority Program. This program supports productions which reflect the realities of living in French-language communities outside Quebec. The CMF has provided $57.0 million in funding on 150 projects in the program since 2010.

Canadian audiences will have a chance to enjoy these new productions created for television from many different regions of the country: 2 productions from British Columbia, 3 from Manitoba, 7 from New Brunswick and 5 from Ontario. There will be 11 documentaries, 1 drama production, 3 children’s and youth productions, and 2 variety and performing arts. Sixteen productions also feature a digital media component.
