CMF invests over $18M in 20 interactive digital media projects
Toronto, July 15, 2026 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced the 20 interactive digital media (IDM) projects selected through the spring 2026 round of funding for our Commercial Projects Program and our Innovation and Experimentation Program.
Commercial Projects Program
Ten projects, all video games, were selected to receive a total of $8,848,770 in production funding. Five will be developed in Ontario, four in Quebec, and one in British Columbia.
Our Commercial Projects Program funds projects that have a greater probability of commercial success. Funding applications were evaluated by a jury of industry peers according to the project’s potential to attain stated commercial objectives, demonstrate business opportunity, and achieve profitability.
The jury was made up of Olivier Gagnon, Valérie Hénaire, Brian Pang, Elise Trinh, Carolyn Vézina, and Ceri Young.
Innovation and Experimentation Program
Ten projects—nine games and one interactive/immersive experience—will receive a total of $9,174,795. Three will be produced in Quebec, three in Ontario, three in British Columbia, and one in Manitoba.
Projects funded through our Innovation and Experimentation Program are Canadian interactive digital media content and software applications that are innovative and leading-edge.
Like the Commercial Projects Program, funding decisions were made by a jury of industry professionals. Applications were evaluated according to originality, quality, sophistication, innovative characteristics, and potential of legacy for the industry, among other criteria. The jury comprised Dominic Arsenault, Elisabeth Rose Atwood, Laia Barboza, Rob Elsworthy, Stéphanie Harvey, and André Lauzon.
