Canada-Germany digital media projects receive over $326K in funding

Toronto/Berlin, February 16, 2018 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB), the body responsible for film funding and media business development in the German states of Berlin and Brandenburg, announced today that three interactive digital media projects will receive over $326K in funding through the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive. The announcement took place at the Embassy of Canada to Germany, during an event coinciding with Berlinale.

Given the success of the program, both organizations also announced that they would be renewing the incentive for a second term. Details, including deadlines, will be announced in the coming weeks.

The following projects will receive funding as part of this first round of this incentive.

By funding projects that use new technologies to tell culturally-relevant stories, both organizations demonstrate their continued support for original storytelling in the digital age.

Projects are evaluated and chosen by a selection committee composed of representatives from both funding organizations. Projects are required to be a collaboration involving at least one eligible Canadian producer and at least one eligible producer based in the states of Berlin or Brandenburg.
