Aboriginal Program

Respecting the distinctive and traditional approaches to Indigenous storytelling, the CMF has tailored a dedicated funding program to support creators from Canada’s First Peoples. The CMF will provide over $7.7M in funding to 17 Indigenous-led projects that applied for production funding through the Aboriginal Program.

Applications for funding were evaluated by a jury composed of individuals from Indigenous communities. Together they bring a complementary skill set including Indigenous-led audiovisual production, contemporary visual arts and traditional storytelling through Indigenous perspectives, as well as knowledge of several Indigenous languages.
