CMF to invest nearly $8M in six video game projects

Toronto, August 13, 2024 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced a total investment of $7,803,838 in six Canadian video game projects. This sum is allocated through the first round of funding for our Commercial Projects Program. 

The successful applicants include three video game studios established in Quebec, one in Ontario, one in British Columbia, and one in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Funding decisions were made by a jury of industry peers and experts. For this round of funding, the jury was made up of Osama Dorias, Veronika Kvon, Laura Mingail, Marie Mejerwall, Yat-Chi Lau, and Benoît Gagnon.

The Commercial Projects Program funds projects that have a greater probability of commercial success. Projects are evaluated based on their potential to attain stated commercial objectives, demonstrate business opportunity, and achieve profitability.  

The CMF will accept applications for funding through the program’s fall 2024 round from September 3 to 17, 2024.
