Partnership opportunities at MIPTV and MIPCOM 2014

Montréal, January 14, 2014 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Telefilm Canada are seeking suggestions and ideas from the industry to feature Canadian productions and talent at upcoming MIPTV and MIPCOM events in 2014, the world’s premiere television markets.

In 2012, Canada was featured as Country of Honour at MIPCOM. Combined marketing, public relations and media strategies heightened awareness of Canadian productions and talent as well as the country as a strong co-production partner.

Several Canadian industry partners have since continued to work together with the CMF and Telefilm Canada at subsequent MIPTV and MIPCOM markets in 2013.

The focus on Canada campaigns at MIP set out to:

  • Elevate global awareness of the quality and genres of Canadian-produced content in Canada and abroad;
  • Drive content export deals and inspire international production investment in Canada;
  • Create networking and matchmaking platforms to increase deal-making with Canadian companies;
  • Spotlight and promote Canadian talent;
  • Screen and showcase exemplary Canadian productions; and
  • Communicate the benefits of the diverse and attractive audiovisual business climate in Canada.

According to Valerie Creighton, CMF President and CEO, “The work accomplished at MIPTV and MIPCOM with the help of so many industry partners has contributed to keeping Canada at the forefront of these very competitive markets.  We look forward to working with more partners from Canada to build on past successes and ensure the world knows what Canada can do.”

Carolle Brabant, Executive Director of Telefilm Canada, added: “Promoting Canadian content is a natural extension of Canada’s strong presence with the Canada Pavilion. This hub of activity is one of the largest national pavilions at MIP and provides concrete marketing and business opportunities to content creators. In addition, promoting our content beyond the Pavilion allows us to reach new audiences and business partners.”

Interested stakeholders are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions to Ginette Pépin before January 24, 2014. Companies interested in exhibiting in the Canada Pavilion are invited to consult the Call for Entry and the FAQs posted on Telefilm Canada’s Website. The deadline to register to the Canada Pavilion is February 21, 2014.

All feedback will be considered in order to develop a range of optimal opportunities to spotlight Canada during these important international industry events.
