Seven Manitoba documentary projects to receive $152K in predevelopment funding through CMF-Manitoba Film & Music funding program
Toronto and Winnipeg, August 28, 2024 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Manitoba Film & Music (MFM) today announced a joint investment of $152,452 in predevelopment funding for seven documentary projects, allocated through the CMF-MFM Predevelopment Program for Documentary Productions. The CMF contributed $101,636 and MFM provided $50,816.
The seven projects include four series or mini-series, two feature films, and a one-off documentary. Six are English-language projects, one is in French, and one is an Indigenous production.

- The Mission – One-off documentary by Five Door Films Inc.: $25,000
- Back to Saigon – Documentary feature film by Numan Production Inc.: $18,750
- Where Do You Draw The Line? – Documentary series by Ice River Films Inc.: $18,750
- Purely Puppies – Documentary series by Merit Motion Pictures Inc.: $24,952
- Iceland’s Ultimate Viking – Documentary miniseries by Zoot Pictures Inc.: $25,000
- The Falls – Documentary feature film by Familiar Films Ltd.: $15,000
- Liens invisibles : Repères d’intégration – Documentary series by Ninis Productions Inc.: $25,000
Launched earlier this year, the new CMF-MFM Predevelopment Program for Documentary Productions provides financial support to Manitoba producers developing linear documentary productions. This program allows companies to pre-develop one or more projects that have not yet received support from a broadcaster, distributor, or development financing, with the intent to encourage financial support from broadcasters or distributors in the subsequent stages of development and production.
