The Phantoms wins at Second International Emmy Kids Awards
The Canada Media Fund (CMF) congratulates the Canadian production The Phantomsthat won the Best Kids TV Movie/Mini-Series at the Second International Emmy Kids Awards last night in New York City. Produced by Dream Street Pictures, The Phantoms follows the basketball team of the Bathurst High School (BHS Phantoms) a year after a terrible road accident that took the lives of seven players and the coach’s wife. As the year and basketball season progresses, the players work together to win the coveted provincial basketball title for the first time in team history.

This emotional and heartwarming story will resonate around the world. Canada's support for the stellar content produced by our industry was in full force last night with the Honourable Michel Samson, Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism, Minister of Acadian Affairs and the Minister responsible for Nova Scotia Business Inc.; Stephen Brunet, the Mayor of Bathurst, New Brunswick where the tragedy occurred; the Nova Scotia Film Development Fund; the Shaw Rocket Fund; and, the CMF,” says Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, CMF. “This accomplishment in the kid's space has an impact on the production company, the provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and the country.
