Three co-productions to receive funding through Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive
Toronto and Berlin, August 1, 2023 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBM) will provide a total of $556,824 (approximately €381,980) in funding to three interactive digital media projects.
The first is a video co-production between Quebec-based art et essai inc. and High Road Stories Heezen & Robbins GbR. Titled An Empty Seat, it has secured $120,000 (approximately €82,350) in development support, with each funder providing half the funds.
The second, a game project by British Columbia-based Wildermage Games inc. and ootiboo GmbH titled Wildermage: The Magic of Here, has obtained $154,038 (approximately €105,720) in development funding. The CMF is contributing $87,799 (approximately €60,245) while MBM is providing $66,240 (approximately €45,453).
Lastly, dA.I.ting: Internet of Flings, a game co-produced by Nova Scotia’s Red Meat Games inc. and Honig Studios GmbH, will receive $282,785.72 (approximately €194,085) in production funding, split equally between the two funders.
Funding decisions for the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive were made by a selection committee composed of CMF and MBB representatives according to a set of criteria, including innovative and creative elements, how projects engage the targeted community and audience, the creative team, and the viability of the projects’ budget and timelines.
