The CMF puts mental health in focus
Toronto, September 28, 2026 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today launched the fifth season of our video series Lights, Camera, Inclusion. Titled Mental Health in Focus, this season makes space for the people who keep the screen industry running to talk about mental health and psychological safety, on set and off.
"Too many people in our industry carry the weight of pressure, precarity, and isolation in silence," said Joy Loewen, Vice-President of Industry Development at the CMF. "With this season, we wanted to create a space where individual experiences were welcomed and heard, and where those experiences could go a long way in teaching all of us how we can do better. It's a way of reminding the industry that it has a role to play in protecting the people who make it run."
Over the course of the season, host and creator Gaëlle Essoo, the CMF’s Senior Manager of Industry Development for the French Market, sits down with nine screen industry professionals who share personal testimonies that reveal challenges affecting the industry as a whole.
Season 5 guests (in order of appearance):
- Jen Viens, Intimacy Coordinator
- Xavier Watso, Host and Content Creator
- Daniela Mujica, Producer
- Maryse Legagneur, Director
- Paul-François Sampson, Set Decorator
- Yasmine Rym Amor, First Assistant Camera
- Philipp Wolf, VFX Producer
