8 Games, 9 interactive platforms, and 1 social media website receive more than $10.7M

(November 28, 2013, Toronto) A total of 18 new interactive digital media projects received a combined total of $10.7M as part of the Canada Media Fund’s (CMF) Experimental Stream second round of funding  for production support.

8 games for children, tweens, young adults, and sports enthusiasts
Among the 8 games, four game applications will be produced.  Children of the ages 8 and up will be able to build their own monster communities and hotels with Monsters Everywhere; create their own console on a wrist, the world’s first connected bi-directional charm bracelet with Mighty Cast; and explore the world of the ancient First-Nations inspired Kuna Civilization with Boximals: The Lost Secret of Kuna Forest. Follow Boximal’s development on its Facebook page and Twitter account. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy a round of golf while challenging their opponents as well as unlock and purchase golf courses in RealFeel Golf.

Teenagers and young adult gamers will enjoy two new downloadable games in which they can play a knight in a medieval fantasy who must do everything in his power to please a princess with Agora. In PlanktOs, they will explore vast underwater locations in an effort to restore balance to marine life to save the ocean.

Young gamers will need a quick wit and strategic approach for two game websites. In Project Food, players will need to organize thousands of dolls that got lost in the wild; and in Classcraft, they will play one of three characters gaining awesome powers as they earn point for good actions and lose them for bad actions.

9 interactive digital media platforms to engage with fictional characters, connect with their favorite professional athlete, or help their business thrive
In the application I Created a Monster, children will meet Charlie who transforms into various types of monsters as his emotions get the better of him. Adults must help Jon, a chef with a disrupted sense of taste, pull together the pieces of his life as they discover a dynamic narrative about food in the application In the Mouth; and, switching from past to present through various layers, users will meet a young girl searching for her mother in the application Anna.

A new application will see sports enthusiasts connect, fist-bump, and engage in conversation with their favorite professional athletes in Shnarped.  Follow Shnarped on Facebook and Twitter. With Biba Mobile Application, moving from slide to swings to balancing beams at a playground’s jungle gym is now orchestrated as an adventure story. Riding a stationary bike will never be the same with Plateforme Kilo-Beat where cyclists will increase the music’s tempo by adjusting their speed and cadence with the help of a coach through a mobile application.

Entrepreneurs and businesses can benefit from Braincloud and Foundation Applications which facilitates the development, management and monetization of engaging games on any device. Create 3D environments that can serve as customizable immersive virtual sets, into which we can embed any live media (such as video, PowerPoint presentations, camera feeds, websites, etc.) in real-time with Immersive. With the help of GameNGive.com, create and execute a fundraising event, including pledge processing and automated payments, using video games by either individuals or non-profit organizations.

1 new social media application to connect people based on recent discussions
With Bunch, users join communities around topics they care about, discover relevant content, access historical discussions or start news ones and discuss with like-minded people.
