Canada-Mexico codevelopment incentive open for applications

Toronto/Mexico City, December 12, 2017 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Mexican Film Institute (Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía – IMCINE), announced today the opening of an incentive for the codevelopment of television projects between Canadian producers and Mexican producers. The incentive was first announced at Los Cabos International Film Festival this past November. Click here to access the guidelines.

To qualify, projects must involve producers eligible under both organisations’ criteria, with the CMF determining eligibility for the Canadian portion of a project and IMCINE determining eligibility for the Mexican portion of the project.

Eligible projects are television series in the drama or children’s and youth genres, with preference being given to the latter. Projects can be either animated or live action and must comply with the pre-established rules of the Canada-Mexico treaty, signed April 8, 1991.

The total amount of funding available through the Incentive is CAD $130,000 (MXN $1,898,000), with each funding organization contributing half of the funds. The total maximum contribution for each project funded through the Incentive is CAD $25,000 (MXN $379,000).
