Changing Narratives Fund guidelines published, applications to open July 15

Toronto, July 9, 2025 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today published the guidelines for the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 disbursements of the Government of Canada’s Changing Narratives Fund. The CMF will accept applications for funding between July 15 and July 31, 2025.

Two intakes of $940,000 are available. We encourage applicants to review the Fund’s guidelines and to read its associated FAQs prior to contacting the CMF for additional questions. For more information, please write to [email protected].

The CMF administers a $4.5M portion of the Changing Narratives Fund. This allocation focuses on equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives within Canada's audiovisual industry. These investments support a range of activities, including mentorship, training, and work placements, to provide creators and companies with industry opportunities that can help create success at all stages.

Initiated last fall by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the fund supports creators from Diverse Communities, including Indigenous, Black, racialized, ethno-religious minorities, Persons with disabilities/Disabled persons and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
