CMF contributes $4M to fund 24 Diverse Languages Projects
Toronto, November 18, 2021 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today $4M in funding to 24 convergent projects that applied to the Diverse Languages Program. The Program supports productions that reflect Canada’s diversity by funding projects in languages other than English, French, or Indigenous languages.
Of the 24 projects, 17 are documentaries, four are drama series, two are variety and performing arts projects, and one is a children’s and youth project. Audiences will enjoy projects in Armenian, Farsi, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Ukrainian. This is the broadest variety of languages supported in any year of this program.
