CMF, Independent Production Fund announce 12 projects to receive nearly $3M in production funding
Toronto, November 20, 2024 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Independent Production Fund (IPF) announced today the 12 projects that will receive nearly $3M in production funding through the CMF-IPF Short Form Series Production Program.
The 12 projects were selected from a pool of eligible applicants that received funding through the CMF-IPF Short Form Series Development Program in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Eight of the selected projects are in English, and four are in French.
To make their funding decisions, evaluators reviewed the creative materials, producer and writer team leads, production schedule, budget and financing, audience engagement planning, recoupment potential, and business and distribution partners.
"The CMF is delighted to support 12 amazing projects and see these stories come to life as they move into production," said CMF President and CEO Valerie Creighton. "Our partnership with the IPF is proof that collaboration yields fantastic results for our creators and our industry. We couldn't be prouder of the work achieved through this program."
"We are truly inspired each year by the remarkable creativity, innovation, and courage we see, and this year’s projects have raised the bar once again," IPF Chair Emilia King commented. "Congratulations to all the creators who poured their hearts into crafting these powerful stories that push limits, invite us to see from new perspectives and reflect the beauty and complexity of the human experience. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated jury, the IPF team, and our Board members for their commitment and passion in selecting this year’s exceptional projects. We can’t wait to see what’s next!”
