CMF launches new Distributor Program

Toronto, October 8, 2024 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today launched our new Distributor Program, a pilot initiative offering more flexibility to applicants by allowing financial contributions from eligible Canadian distributors to solely unlock CMF funding, without the requirement of a Canadian broadcaster.

For clarity, while Canadian Broadcasters can also participate in the required level of financing needed to unlock CMF funds, their participation is not mandatory in this new program.

For projects to access CMF funding through this program, distributors contributing to the project must meet the CMF's definition of an Eligible Canadian Distributor

The program's total budget is $10M, and the maximum CMF contributions will be the lesser of 49 per cent of eligible costs or $500,000. Applicants may request funding for projects in English or French.

Funding will be allocated through a selective process, with the CMF Program Administration team responsible for evaluating eligible applicants.

Detailed information about the eligibility and selection process are available in the Program Guidelines.

The CMF will be accepting funding requests through the Distributor Program from November 7 to November 28, 2024
