CMF releases second season of its podcast series Now & Next
Toronto, September 18, 2019 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) released the first episode of the second season of Now & Next. This original, six-episode podcast series offers in-depth interviews with experts who discuss emerging trends and digital transformations in the media and entertainment industries. Presented by the CMF, Now & Next is produced by Katie Jensen and hosted by Leora Kornfeld.
Now & Next is available on the CMF Trends website, the CMF’s YouTube channel and major podcasting platforms, including Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify and others. New episodes will be published every other week.
Some of the themes that will be discussed throughout the second season include human-machine collaboration and the role of artificial intelligence in audiovisual production, emerging trends in e-sports and the changing documentary filmmaking landscape.
On the first episode of Now & Next audiences will hear from Jack Zhang. Jack is a Waterloo University grad who devised a machine-learning based system that breaks movies down to their core elements — tens of thousands of them, in total — to predict a movie’s likelihood of success. And that’s just one of the many things Zhang’s artificial intelligence program can do.
All episodes of the first season of Now & Next, as well interview transcripts are available on the CMF Trends website, in both French and English. The CMF is currently working on the second season of the French version of its podcast series, Futur et médias, which will be made available soon.
