CMF reopens Slate Development Pilot Program, expands pool of eligible applicants
Toronto, October 2, 2024 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced the reopening of our Slate Development Pilot Program (SDPP). For the first time, at least 25 per cent of the program’s $5,410,000 budget will be reserved for companies where the shareholder(s) meet the definition of either Diverse Community or Official Language Minority Community.
Like in previous editions of the program, applicants that have the required track record with the CMF and that have not received SDPP funding in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 will obtain SDPP funding.
Production companies that received SDPP funding in 2021-2022 are eligible to apply this year under the condition that at least one of their SDPP-funded projects has moved to production.
New this year: Applicants without a track record with the CMF will be able to apply for SDPP funding through a multi-step selective process.

Interested applicants must apply for SDPP funding before the deadline of November 21, 2024.
Launched in 2021 the Slate Development Pilot Program offers more flexibility to Eligible Applicants and allow them to choose and fund their development projects without the requirement of an attached Canadian Broadcaster (or other activating entity).
