CMF to invest $10.3M in 19 projects by Black and Racialized creators
Toronto, August 25, 2025 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced the 19 projects selected for funding through the 2025–2026 edition of our Program for Black and Racialized Communities (PBRC). The selected applicants will receive a total of $10,338,000 in production funding.
$6,607,000 is allocated to twelve English-languages projects, and $3,731,000 to seven French-language projects.
Seven are dramas, six are documentaries, and six are children and youth productions. Nine of the successful applicants are Ontario-based companies, seven are established in Quebec, two in British Columbia, and one in Nova Scotia.
Funding decisions are made through a selective process by a jury of industry peers and professionals. Here are the juries for the 2025–2026 edition of the program:
- English-language projects: Abdul Malik, Ravida Din, Tristan Burroughs, Julie Hackett, Saffron Maeve, Ryan Logan
- French-language projects: Cécilia Agnès-Keita, Yuri Berger, Anik Magny, Anthony Koka
The Program for Black and Racialized Communities supports the growth of English- and French-language audiovisual content from production companies owned and controlled by Black and Racialized individuals. Starting this year, additional support was provided to projects in the Children and Youth genre via more points and expanded market tests. The program also allocates pre-development and development funding.
