15 productions receive $8.1M under Francophone Minority Program

Toronto, June 21, 2017 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced that 15 convergent projects have been awarded $8.1M in funding as part of the first round of financing under the Francophone Minority Program. This program supports productions which reflect the realities of living in French-language communities outside Québec. The CMF has provided $75.4M in funding to 212 projects through this program since 2010.

Canadian audiences will have a chance to enjoy these new productions created for television and digital media from many different regions of the country: two productions from Alberta, one from British Columbia, three from Manitoba, two from New Brunswick, one from Nova Scotia and six from Ontario. There will be three drama productions, six documentaries, five children’s and youth productions, and one variety and performing arts projects.
