CMF funding sparks $1.7B in industry activity, furthers inclusion and equity in screen industries: 2023-2024 Annual Report
Toronto, September 27, 2024 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today released our 2023-2024 Annual Report, Powering Creativity. The report shows that our investments in the Canadian audiovisual and interactive digital media sectors triggered $1.7B in industry activity and advanced equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the Canadian screen sector.

- CMF programs invest $379.7M in 1,496 audiovisual and interactive digital media projects.
- Every dollar invested by the CMF generated $4.52 in production activity across the country.
- Our total commitment to underrepresented communities reached $68.5M—$5.5M more than in the previous fiscal year.
- We allocated $4.6M in Sector Development Support funding to 73 initiatives that addressed industry gaps in distinct and identified areas, including Canada’s regions and Indigenous and Equity-Deserving Communities.
- Over $48M was invested in interactive digital media projects.
