CMF to invest $10M in 23 audiovisual projects through new Distributor Program
Toronto, February 26, 2025 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced that 23 projects will receive $10M in production funding through our newly launched Distributor Program. The CMF received 105 applications for funding through this program.
Announced in October 2024, the Distributor Program is a pilot initiative offering more flexibility to CMF applicants by allowing financial contributions from eligible Canadian distributors to solely unlock CMF funding, without the requirement of a Canadian broadcaster.
Of the 23 projects selected for funding:
- 15 are English-language productions and eight are French-language content.
- 14 are documentaries, five are dramas, two are Variety and Performing Arts projects, and two are productions for children and youth.
- Three are international treaty co-productions.
- 10 projects will be produced in Ontario, 10 in Quebec, one in Manitoba, one in Alberta, and one in British Columbia.
