MADE | NOUS, a celebration of Canada’s exceptional creative talent and content
Toronto, February 25, 2019 – A new consumer campaign positioned to recognize and celebrate the creative talent Canadians bring to world audiences made its premiere last night during the Academy Awards’ broadcast. The full campaign is set to launch nationwide, beginning February 25.
The MADE campaign--NOUS in French--celebrates the works of Canadian creators in film, television, video games and digital entertainment, both at home and abroad. Canada is home to award-winning television, movies, and special effects that have captured global audiences and swept box offices worldwide. MADE | NOUS shines a spotlight on the achievements of Canadians who bring stories to life, and encourages audiences to discover and celebrate their work.
“Canada is home to some of the world’s best creators, storytellers and artists,” said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, Canada Media Fund (CMF). “MADE | NOUS is a celebration of the talented individuals, both in front of and behind the camera. They’re made in Canada and thanks to their extraordinary talent, they make some of the best content out there. It’s time we all take pride in the exceptional work of our creative community.”
MADE | NOUS is the result of a collaborative effort between key entertainment industry players: the CMF and Telefilm Canada, as well as agency partners TORQUE Strategies, One Twenty Three West, and Agence Cartier. The campaign has an additional thirty—and growing—industry partners on board, including Bell Media, CBC/Radio-Canada, Corus Entertainment and Cineplex, who have provided in-kind support.
A star-studded 60-second commercial, voiced by Oscar, Emmy and Tony award-winning actor Christopher Plummer, was introduced from the Oscar red carpet broadcast. Directed by Toronto filmmaker Scott Cudmore, the trailer pays homage to Canadian success stories like Arrival, Deadpool, The Handmaid’s Tale, Orphan Black, Stranger Things, and more. Featured in the promo are Canadian talent Karine Vanasse (Cardinal) and Jacob Tremblay (Room).
Alongside a strong media component on all major Canadian broadcasters, the campaign is supported by a website allowing visitors to discover specific locations related to Canadian content and talent, as well as PR initiatives, integrated social media and digital advertisement.
