More than $6.2M awarded to 28 Canadian innovative digital media productions

(Toronto, August 6, 2015) The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today a contribution of more than $6.2M in development and marketing support to innovative digital media projects as part of the first round of its 2015-2016 Experimental Stream funding. 

Since 2010, the CMF has contributed $58.7M in development and marketing support to 263 interactive digital media projects as part of the Experimental Stream.

Development support
A total of 20 Canadian companies received support totaling $4.4M to develop 15 games, three applications, one application using virtual reality, and one software application. Click here to access a list of new projects that received development support.

Development support provides funding for the conceptualization of an eligible project and/or for the development of the creative and technical elements of an eligible project and the drafting of a product proposal for business development and financing purposes.

Marketing support
The CMF has contributed $1.8M in marketing support to 8 interactive digital media projects including four games, two social media applications, and two software applications. Click here to access a list of projects and their description that received marketing support.
Marketing support provides funding for the marketing and promotion of an eligible project such as the creation of national and international marketing campaigns, design costs, creation and market-testing of advertising, use of the Internet for promotion or transactions, and more.
