From TV to mobile quest game – Interview with Caroline Gaudette, Version 10 Productions
With the television landscape rapidly changing, several agencies and production houses are developing flagship products exclusive to their brand to stay ahead of the game. Such is the case with Version 10 Productions, an agency that designs and produces digital media components for convergent projects in television and film.
Version 10 developed JIM, a platform designed for creating mobile immersive games using the various technologies available to these devices. The team at Version 10 has been using their brainchild to develop interactive experiences for television shows, including an application for Génial!, a science-based program on Télé-Québec targeting young viewers. As the first prototype designed using the new platform, the Génial! app introduces users to science and biology as they follow an interactive path through the Montreal Biodôme with the show’s two hosts in tow.
We met with Caroline Gaudette, a partner at Version 10, to learn more about JIM, as well as to discuss ideas for future applications using the platform and the future of this technology in a televisual context.
